Empowering Marginalized Voices:

ILDC Hosts Landmark Regional Workshop on Land in India

The Indian Land Development Conference (ILDC) hosted its inaugural Regional Workshop on Land in Bengaluru, India, on May 30–31, 2025. The event brought together 84 participants, including 16 grassroots community leaders, alongside researchers, practitioners, and social activists from across the region. The workshop focused on two pressing and interconnected.

 

Themes: Youth, Land, and Commons and Dalit Land Rights.

Current Projects:

Andipatti: After-School Learning Support Program for Marginalized Children

Venue: IYD Training Centre, Vadipatti, Madurai, Tamil Nadu

The After-School Learning Support Program aims to provide comprehensive educational support to 80 marginalized children (ages 6-14) from Dalit communities in Vadipatti, Tamil Nadu. Through daily two-hour sessions combining academic tutoring, digital literacy training, and holistic development activities, the program addresses educational inequities exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Led by trained educators and supported by community volunteers, this initiative will improve academic performance, develop critical thinking skills, and create a sustainable community-based educational support system over a 12-month period.
